Lookout Mama is the "official" contact between the Rust List and Lookout Management, (which is where Neil's manager, Elliot Roberts, takes care of business).

This page is a log of reports made by Lookout Mama to the Rust List, of her contacts with Lookout Management. Some of the news here may not make a lot of sense when taken out of that context. Subscribe to the Rust List to get ALL of the info...

The newest report comes first. Scrolling down takes you backward through time...

Subject: Nicolette Tribute

Despite what you have all heard to the contrary Neil WILL NOT be appearing at the tribute. He has "other plans" according to what I've been told.

With this in mind, I must ask you all a favor. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT call Lookout Management to either confirm or deny this. Trust me - I will explain it all tomorrow. Thanks.

Subject: YOTH in Europe

As promised last week I have been checking around with both Lookout and the distributor for Year of the Horse as to when the movie will be shown in Europe. I know that one of our Rusties did post several dates the other day that the film is supposed to be showing in a few countries. However, after speaking to the above folks this past week to try and confirm these dates and add others I have been told the following...

Right now there is NO distributor for Year of the Horse in Europe, consequently the movie should not be playing ANYWHERE over there. At this moment plans call for probable distribution of the film in the spring or early summer (spring being the time they're shooting for). So, if you see an ad for YOTH at any of these festivals and/or movie houses I'd really check into it. Chances are it's bogus advertising. And if it is playing there, it ain't supposed to be.

Spoke to Lookout yesterday to check on a few things of note recently.

1. New album: According to them, Warner is not in the habit of posting dates on their websites unless they're practically 100% positive that this will be the release date. So, if they're saying June 23rd as the date of Neil's new album then that's when it should definitely be. However, from personal experience I think anybody who's a long term fan of Neil can tell you to most definitely take that info with a healthy grain of salt!

As for acoustic, electric or what have you. Official word is that product has not been delivered yet so nobody knows. Since I am not a fan of anything official, let alone "official words" I will keep bugging them to see if we can find out for sure if this will be an acoustic or electric offering.

2. YOTH in Europe: I'm currently working with Lookout to get a list of dates that the movie will screen in Europe. I hope to have information by mid-week. Unfortunately, the people who could have given me the info were not available Friday when I called. I'll keep on it. I hope also to have some additional info at the same time about possible release dates on video. Will keep everyone posted soon as I hear anything.

3. TOURS: No word yet. I had heard a while ago that there will be a tour this summer to back up the new album, but at that point I had no details and the person who gave me the info is no longer there. I never did find out if the tour is world-wide or not. Again, still working on it.

That's it for now. Soon as I get any more info I'll let y'all know.

Subject: No news on YOTH in Europe

I'm trying to get any sort of release dates on YOTH to be shown in Europe - especially in the Scandanavian area (as per a few requests I've received) and a possible release date on this side of the pond for the video but so far Lookout has nothing to report to me. I'll check again Friday.

BTW, Neil & Pegi are back from Hawaii now.....

Subject: Cards

As I mentioned the other day on Rust, I took the liberty of sending a message of sympathy to the Kunkel family (Nicolette Larson's family), and that I sent it via Lookout since I didn't have an address. I spoke to them tonite and they are forwarding it on to the family for us.

Also, the card from the Rusties that I put together for the Young family clocked in at 18 pages and is on it's way as well.

Now all I need is an answer to when exactly YOTH will be released on video and when & where the next tour will start...

Subject: YOTH movie in South Florida?????

Was informed by somebody down here that the University of Miami is screening Year of the Horse this weekend. I've done some checking and can find nothing out. Called Lookout as well and they didn't know anything either (but I did get to speak with Elliot's son Ethan for a while - he's VERY nice). But SoFla Rusties might wanna keep their eyes open just in case....

Subject: YOTH "Soundtrack", Oz Tour

I spoke to Lookout tonite to try and find out more about the release of the "soundtrack" for the Year of the Horse movie, and was told that the already released YOTH CD is the soundtrack! Apparently there is no separate CD coming out with different tunes as we all thought. They said that since the songs featured on this CD are in the movie (don't yell at me if that's wrong - remember the flick is not playing down here in Florida yet!) that this is the soundtrack.

On a related note, there is some talk now that the film will be put into wider distribution in the near future. Apparently Universal is interested in doing it. Nothing firm as of yet, but for those of us being shut out by October Films it is a small ray of hope.......

And on an unrelated note, there doesn't at this point look to be a tour of Oz in 98. Nothing is being planned at this stage. I think all you Rusties down under should sign a giant petition or something and forward it on to Lookout.

Subject: (Incomplete) Bridge Info

I am hoping to have a LOT of information regarding the Bridge shows this evening. It won't be until after 5pm eastern time and then, since I have my son's football game to go to, I won't get to loading it in till probably around midnight tonite. If I can get it sooner I will, but please be patient. However, I can give you a partial list of acts for right now:

Subject: Farm Aid and Bridge Info

FARM AID: Yes, the rumors and press releases are true. It's been cancelled. HOWEVER, there is a possibility that it may still occur only in another city. I don't have details since they are not available until Friday but I can tell you that I've contacted Steve Wiener, who is handling the Farm Aid Rustrow, and he's on top of the situation. So if you were planning to go he'll have all the info for you ASAP. Lookout is aware of the non-refundable airfare situation for a lot of you and is trying to get him the info on a new site or refunds ASAP.

BRIDGE: Dates are still October 18th & 19th. Paul McCartney IS NOT scheduled to appear due to a scheduling conflict. An appearance by Brad is still being worked on if they can get over the scheduling difficulties. And yes, Dave Matthews, Alanis and Blues Traveler are confirmed. Before you bitch too loudly about Alanis, Neil extended the invitation personally. <G>
