Subject: Neil in Brazil?
I have many friends here in Rio de Janeiro who love to hear and play Neil's music. I heard that NY is possibly coming to Brazil in Septmber, to be precise, in Belo Horizonte city. Does anybody know anything about that???? That news was even in the local newspaper.
It would be just incredible!

Subject: More on BikeStock 98
More from the Daytona News Journal, March 5, 1997:
"All money paid to BikeStock Charter Members Club will be refunded if BikeStock 98 doesn't happen," said Young.Okay there it is! Yahoo!"I'm not a promoter, and people thought I was stretching when I started talking about this several years ago," he said. "Jack Boyle has been promoting nationally 30 years. He told me: 'I don't think this will work, frankly, Bob. Why would bikers stop what they're doing and do what you want them to, which is buy tickets and come to a concert?'"
"I thought about that a long time," said Young. "Then I realized, there's no central thing going on at Bike Week. Bikers are riding around looking for something to do."
Bob Young is a former member of the Canadian Professional Golfers' Association. Neil and Bob Young's mother, Rassy, lived in New Smyrna Beach for 25 years until her death in 1991.

Subject: BikeStock 98!!!!!
Okay Rusties here is some news from the Daytona News Journal, March 5, 1997:
Article by Tom TuckerWell guess I have my next years winter vacation destination all set!
New Smyrna BeachBikestock 98 is the dream of Bob Young, 54 only brother of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Neil Young.
If his plan works, next year on an old runway at the New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport, a huge stage will be built for the three day concert, probably staged Tuesday, Wednesday and Thrusday of Bike Week.
Entertainers could include Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, John Mellencamp and Dwight Yoakam.
"I want to create a centerpiece entertainment attraction for Bike Week here," Bob Young said.
Young said he had city approval for a concert headlining his famous brother this year, but opted to go for a bigger promotion next year.
Young who splits time between here and Toronto, said his company, Coastal Gold Productions Inc., will promote the event. Young said members of the new city Commission have tentatively approved the idea for BikeStock 98 but are awaiting a formal presentation and more assurances from Coastal Gold.
Young has received advice and support from several parties, including his brother and his brohter's agency; individuals who helped Willie Nelson's FarmAid; ABATE (American Bikers Aiming Toward Education) and it's lobbyists, the MRF ( Motorcycle Riders Foundation) and ABATE founder Tony "Pan" Sanfelipo, whose group could receive a portion of concert proceeds.
"All my advisers told me to establish a Bike Stock Charter Members Club, and that's what I am doing," said Young. The prospective members contribute $20.00 each to become a member. Charter members will be given preferential ticket selection and other benefits. Young has established a toll-free telephone numer: 888-811-2453 (BIKE), for more information.
Or those who want to mail a check or money order can do so to: BikeStock Charter Members Club, P.O. Box 2561, New Smyrna Beach, 32170

Hello rusting particles,
Has anyone heard rumours about a possible E.U.R.O. tour before the H.O.R.D.E. tour this summer? I've seen Neil's name on a "wish list" for the Glastonbury Festival (U.K., end of June), and there is a rumour that he will play on the first day of the Torhout/Werchter Festival (Belgium, July 4-5).

Both are beautiful locations, Innsbruck and Wiesen (near Vienna).
BTW Wiesen is close to a little village, belive it or not, called RUST!
Hope to get more info in the next days.

Subject: HORDE MENTALITY - LA Times, 3/2/97
From the Los Angeles Times on 3/2/95:
HORDE MENTALITY
by Steve HochmanFans of the HORDE Tour's free-flowing hippie rock vibe have been freaking out over word that this summer's headliner, Neil Young, would be prohibiting concert-goers from taping the shows. Fans of the band MOE, who, in the tradition of the Deadheads, consider taping their right, even flooded the group's Internet site with messages that the band turn down an expected offer to appear on HORDE.
But Young's manager, Elliot Roberts, says the RnR Hall of Famer has NO objection to allowing tapers on the tour.
"We'll go along with whatever is the tour policy," says Roberts, adding that the issue had never even been discussed.
And what is the policy?
"That hasn't been determined yet," says HORDE honcho David Frey of the taping question. "And our taping section isn't really that big anyway. We have maybe 10 a show, which is not close to Phish concerts or with the Dead, where it's more like 150."
I'm not on the Rust List, but I didn't see any mention of it on any of your rumors pages so I'd figured I'd let you know. Neil Young is playing at the East Coast Tibetan Freedom Concert at RFK Stadium in Washington DC this June (the 7th/8th, I believe). It was in the Cornell Daily Sun yesterday.
I believe the article (which was most likely like an A.P. thing, since the Daily Sun doesn't have much outside news written by students) said he was definately playing, as were the Beastie Boys and about 5 other bands. He was specifically named as opposed to the "other bands to be announced".
_ /| \'o.O' -meow! =(___)= U
There's strong rumours coming from insiders at Neil camp that the boys will hit these shores again next summer. Italy should be included this time (as well as Spain).
Start saving your pennies, folks !

From a story in the Austin American-Statesman (January 30, 1997):
"Neil Young has just signed to headline this summer's H.O.R.D.E. Festival. Expect an Austin date at Southpark Meadows . . . .Mike Raney
Hi everyone--
Spotted this is the latest Billboard The Beat column:
"This just in: Neil Young will be the headliner on this year's H.O.R.D.E. tour. Organizers are still working out the festival's time frame and other acts on the bill.""mad" louie
From this weeks NME:
GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL organiser and site owner Michael Eavis is trying to keep the names of the 500-plus bands set to play the event this year a secret in order to "reduce panic" among ticket buyers. Although there are rumours that The Prodigy, Kula Shaker, The Smashing Pumpkins, Supergrass, Lou Reed, The Rolling Stones and Neil Young are likely to play the festival on June 27, 28 and 29, all Eavis would tell NME is that the line-up was going to be "the best we've ever had".
This AM I saw an article in the LA Times about Neil being almost a lock on the 1997 HORDE Tour. ....it ain't a done deal yet but it's real close.
