The newest report comes first. Scrolling down takes you backward through time... Note that this report is mostly a log of stuff posted to the Rust List, so some of it may not make a lot of sense when taken out of that context. Subscribe to the Rust List to get ALL of the info...
According to "Leann Warren" at KINK radio in Portland, Oregon:
Sorry to report that the concert promoter is now telling us that the CSN&Y show is cancelled. If we find out more info on if it'll be rescheduled we'll let you know.Don't know if that just involves a Portland date or the entire tour. Might this be a confirmation for the BGP rumor?
Just hung up with my friend in Arizona who performs at Farm Aid... This is not rumor, but fact: Farm Aid for Sept 12 is now declared "tentative" for that day. The man who passes me info is a personal friend of Willie and Neil's.
It is also listed in the Farm Aid newsletter as tentative for that date. (By newsletter, I mean that it is some sort of update that the performers get.) Just thought that I would pass it on....

someone in "the family" is sick. won't say who, but since neil has been on the road not likely him. "no tour till it's better" was the word.
good news: deer creek, an indy venue, is planning a date in oct.

Farmer Rob wrote:
> My friend just called me and said that Bill > Graham Productions (where he works) had just > got word that Neil was pulling out of this > summer's CSNY tour (all, some??).Being third or fourth-hand makes it real hard to interpret that "news". Could be that somebody at BGP finally noticed the rumor from a while back (since discredited) that Neil was pulling out and passed it around there as "new news". Could be that somebody there only recently heard about the tour dates moving to Sept (at the earliest) and read something into THAT. Or maybe they DID hear something brand new that hasn't made the news yet. Time will tell...
hello. last night i was at the tom petty concert and i was talkin to my buddy lance -- he is the boss of bookings and practically the whole place at starlake in pittsburgh. he confirmed that crosby, stills, nash, and young are coming there on september 5th. i am not lying this is the truth -- september 5th.
i called him up today and he said it is confirmed and in the book.
it was supposed to be august 12th but they had to push it back a month.
that is what lance said so i am goin by his words.
call up starlake and see.

Subject: Crosby says "Tour Is On"
From a longer article on rollingstone.com
CSN&Y reunion tour should roll out this yearDavidThe mercurial Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young reunion tour originally slated to roll out this summer will now happen some time later this year, provided an unknown personal problem is rectified, according to singer David Crosby. "There has been a delay and I'm not at liberty to say why," said Crosby, speaking backstage at Sunday's Tibetan Freedom Concert in E. Troy, Wisc. "It certainly is not because anybody is not happy with it. The music we've been making in the studio is unbelievably good. We all want to do it, but there's personal family reasons why one of us has got a problem and as soon as that can be worked out we'll go out." He then added the tour will "absolutely" happen.
I asked Elliott {at the Houston M&G} about the Sept 4 CSN&Y date in Tampa that was reported as back on, he said definitely not. The radio is miss-informing. But yes, the tour is still on, just the date is wrong and not set. So, whenever, the fest is at my house.

Subject: Last Trip To Vegas
My personal mission {at the 1st Houston Meet&Greet} was to get the picture of Neil and me from the Vegas M&G signed. I had a 5x7. I was the 2nd one who Neil approached last night. I shook his hand and said, "The music matters, Neil." He quickly looked up at me and smirked. I wondered if he knew. I added, "and yours matters the most." I held out the picture.
He glanced at it and mumbled (he mumbles a lot), "I have to sign the other picture."
"But Neil....this is from Vegas."
He looks down at it and starts laughing, shows it to his body guards, "Hey look at this from Vegas! What a night that was." Then they're all very amused by it, obviously recalling the CRAPPY mood Neil was in that night and how it's obvious in the pic. You should see his face....and he was wearing the shades. You can tell he was pissed that night. Meanwhile there I am next to him in the pic with a big s@#t-eating grin on. :-D
I had also mentioned to Elliot how I had to go to the Vegas show since he rarely even comes to Texas and Elliot told me how he really took some shit from Neil about *that* fiasco. He will NEVER play there again.
One of his audio guys commented later on about the Last Trip to Vegas and asked if I caught the lyrics to that song. I said "oh yeah, sure did" and then recited them. He mentioned how most of the audience didn't even get it and how they were cheering when he sang it. The bunch of drunks. Again, his comment not mine.
Put that info from two sources together with Neil's reaction to my picture.
Last trip indeed.

PS: I did verify though that tonight is the end of the tour.

Got back from the 5/20 Detroit show. My only show on this tour and I liked it a lot. Despite having heard a number of tapes and CDs from the tour, there is just nothing like being there.
We talked to Zeke a bit. Reminded him about the MORE BARN banner. He said he remembered. Anyway, we asked Zeke about Toronto, and he said there had been talk of it,but it doesn't look like it now. Didn't offer any more, and I wasn't going to ask, but he seemed pretty sure of it. Hope he's wrong, but wouldn't hold my breath.

Subject: "Neil" in Toronto
I received a rumor that Neil would appear at the Aboriginal Voices Festival in Toronto (June 16-21). But the current festival schedule shows no Neil... EXCEPT: on Friday night, June 18, the movie Dead Man (which Neil did the soundtrack for) will be shown at the Studio Theater (right after the excellent film Smoke Signals) at 9pm.
I don't see any non-Native musical acts listed in the schedule, so I'm guessing the rumor was related to Dead Man. The only other Neil connection I see is that Keith Secola (with Wild Band of Indians) is playing on Saturday night, and his web-site lists Neil among the many artists his band has "been in contact with" (others include Bowie, Patti Smith, Jerry Garcia, Coolio, U2 and Nirvana).
Since there's still talk of Neil doing Toronto, and it can be no earlier
than June now, I suppose we can't rule this rumor out completely. Y'all

Tue 22 | Pray for Neil!!!! |
Wed 23 | Toronto Symphony Orchestra |

God Almighty, I hope and pray this isn't true... Please God don't do this to us... Some of whom have waited 25 years to see CSNY together in concert again!
The following is what I just read from Q Magazine (pretty much a rehash of the Rolling Stone story):
Cold Feet for Young?
[May 13 1999 2:31PM]
Neil Young is getting cold feet at the prospect of a planned US reunion tour with old bandmates Stephen Stills, David Crosby and Graham Nash, scheduled for August. The plan had been to support the forthcoming CSN&Y album, Heartland, with fifteen live dates. However, it seems that Young wants to do a single pay-per-view show on cable television instead, even though he'd originally put forward the tour idea. To add to the confusion, recent reports state that the tour will take place in September, but that would clash with Young's appearance at the annual Farm Aid concert?
The new Rolling Stone seems to think that Neil's getting "cold feet" when it comes to the CSNY reunion tour. Check it out.

Farm Aid '99 Plugged In For Sept. 12Farm Aid '99 is back on track and slated for Sept. 12 at Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, Va. with event founders Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young in tow.
For the past two years, the event has taken place at the World Music Theatre outside Chicago. The Farm Aid office will not comment on this year's plans until a talent lineup is finalized; they expect to make an announcement in late June or possibly earlier.
There is a possibility that Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young could be among the performers, since the start of their reunion tour has been pushed back to September. Last year's concert featured Phish, Hootie and the Blowfish, Martina McBride, Steve Earle, Wilco, and John Conlee in addition to Nelson, Mellencamp, and Young.
This is from Sidewalk.com:
After many years in the Midwest, Farm Aid is moving to Washington this year. It's happening Sept. 12 at Nissan Pavilion; artists rumored to be appearing include Willie Nelson; Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; Dave Matthews; John Mellencamp; and Susan Tedeschi. AKRONTomConcert fans injured in fall at E.J. Thomas
A 21-year-old man fell from a balcony wall, injuring himself and three other people at the Neil Young concert last night at E.J. Thomas Hall at the University of Akron.
Raymond McDermott of Poland, Ohio, was taken to Akron General Medical Center to be treated for neck and back injuries. The three people he hit -- an 11-year-old Michigan girl, her mother and a woman from Parma Heights -- were also taken to area hospitals, said Paul Herold, a university spokesman.
The girl suffered leg and ankle injuries, while her mother's arm was broken. They were treated at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron. The other woman, whose age was not known, was taken to Akron City Hospital for a neck injury, Herold said.
The accident occurred about 8:30 p.m., shortly before an intermission in the concert. After the intermission, the concert resumed.
McDermott fell about 25 feet from the wall of the third-tier balcony onto the three people, who were sitting in the second- tier balcony.
"He had to climb on the wall and be standing, sitting or walking," Herold said.
The university police department is still investigating. No charges have been filed.
I woke up this morning to the sound of my clock radio going off. Of course, I hit the snooze button.
But the second time that it went off, I stayed awake. Why? Because they were making a concert announcement:

There won't be any high decibels this time out — this is a solo acoustic gig. With the current number of solo dates (34 confirmed, more possible) and the number of proposed CSNY dates (44), this may very well be Neil's second biggest touring year ever. The only busier year would be 1973, when he did 92 (!) tour stops (the Time Fades Away and Tonight's The Night tours).
However if no new solo dates are set and some CSNY dates go away, he
might drop below 1983 (had 77 stops doing Trans & Pinks)
