I've been keeping on eye on the Great American Music Hall website's calendar for mention of CSN&Y shows. Yesterday they put up three November dates for "private events". I've heard that there will be more than a single show if CSN&Y does do something there, so the multiple dates kind of add up. Also, the first date is November 3rd , which is right after the Bridge School Benefit, so you figure everyone could still be around town.
If these shows are for a VH1 taping, then you can guess that Neil would want more than a one-off like the "unplugged" show that he subsequently re-did. It has been awhile since they've played live together in front of an audience, there is likely other new band members, they have a lot of material, so these shows would be more likely for practice before the big tour. I wonder what the chances are for other stealth practice shows in the SF area.
Maybe they want some control over the audience, hence a "private event", where they give out the tickets to selected persons...
Of course, this is all just speculation...

Rumors caught on the fly today (from industry insiders)...
I sent a get well wish to Graham this morning. I told him that I hoped he had a speedy and complete recovery from his injuries, and said that if he didn't make the Bridge School Benefit this year, I would understand.
I went on to say that in my opinion, the kids would get a lot of inspiration if he showed up. What follows is his responce.

Pollstar also lists The Who for both days, which is what Sheila had reported, but all the previous news service reports had NOT confirmed (they all listed them for Saturday only).

Subject: CSNY Press Conference? VH1 Special?
Found this on the Rolling Stone site:
Michael Jensen, a spokesperson for Nash, said the musician would require a wheelchair for a couple of months while undergoing physical therapy. There is no word yet whether the injury would impact the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young press conference scheduled for Oct. 7 in San Francisco to announce their upcoming tour, or whether they'll cancel their upcoming show at the city's Great American Music Hall, which was to be shot for a VH1 Special."It hasn't been determined whether the round-robin interview with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young will continue on schedule, or whether Graham will be able to travel. Everything is still up in the air," said Reprise Records spokesperson Bob Merlis.
This comment was posted to the BBS board on the CPR website by Croz, in response to Graham's accident:
"Graham broke both legs and will need some time to heal... ...should be ok though ina while... ...only change right now is no Bridge School concert for CSNY"Rust in peace,
Thought this might be of interest to you folks that visit this webpage...
My name is Rich Hammond, and I'm a HUGE Pearl Jam fan. I know Caryn Rose as well as other memembers of the Rust List through our love of Pearl Jam.
What I have done is setup a rather simple webpage to allow fans (of any of the bands) to TRADE or SELL AT COST extra tickets they might have. Many people got tickets for the 30th and not the 31st or vice versa, and I'm sure lots of "talk" has/will occur on mailing lists about trading tickets.
Please feel free to check out the site and take a look at what I have there for information and ticket trading. I'm simply trying to contact anyone that might be interrested in this.
I'm a fan, a taper, and believe that NOBODY should pay extra for
tickets. Especially something like this... there is NO reason why the
extra money should go into a scalper's hands. Let's help each other out
instead.

Graham Nash Injured in Boating Accident
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame musician Graham Nash, of Crosby Stills Nash & Young, was injured in a freak boating accident in Hawaii yesterday that caused him to break both of his legs, it was announced by his manager Gerry Tolman."Graham was on a power-boat when it hit a large wave causing him to be thrown upwards," Tolman said. "As he was coming down, another wave hit the boat and he landed very hard on the inside of the boat." Nash underwent surgery for two broken legs throughout the night. He is resting comfortably in an undisclosed Hospital.
The accident unfortunately comes prior to next month's long awaited Warner Bros. - Reprise release of Crosby Stills Nash & Young's new CD entitled Looking Forward.
Rumoured guests for the Sunday show include (yeah... we'll see...): Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Elvis Costello. But a rumour is a rumour is a rumour...

Subject: Bridge Line-up not confirmed
According to SonicNet's Music News Of The World:
McCartney, a longtime acquaintance of Young's, has been approached about performing at the all-acoustic gig, according to a source close to the event. The show is tentatively set for Oct. 30 & 31 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, Calif.Peace,Already confirmed for the show are Seattle rockers Pearl Jam, who announced participation on their official website last month.
A spokesperson for Young's management, Lookout, would not comment on the lineup for the shows.
Also invited to perform this year is acclaimed singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams, according to a source at her label who requested anonymity. It is not yet known if the Car Wheels on a Gravel Road singer will participate, the source said.
Young has completed an as-yet-untitled album with his sometime collaborators Crosby, Stills and Nash. The group, with Young, is expected to launch a long-awaited reunion tour in February. The Lookout source would not confirm whether the veteran folk-rock trio would be on the Bridge School benefit bill.
According to Rolling Stone in an article about the new CSNY, they give more details than the Allstar article about the Bridge Show:
Neil Young keeps racking up names for his annual Benefit for the Bridge School concert. In addition to Pearl Jam, Young has tapped his old friend Paul McCartney, Farm Aid pal Lucinda Williams, as well as his old cronies Crosby, Stills and Nash. In fact, Young and the guys will perform a full set at this year's Bridge show, scheduled to take place at Mountain View, California's Shore Line Amphitheater on October 30 and 31.. . . RE*AC*TOR

FARM AID '99 ANNOUNCED AT NISSAN PAVILION ON SEPTEMBER 12!Lineup for September concert includes Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews Band, Trisha Yearwood, The Mavericks, Sawyer Brown, Steve Earle and Susan Tedeschi.
Farm Aid President Willie Nelson today outlined plans for the national family farm organization's benefit concert as family farmers and farm supporters across the country rallied for relief from Washington's misguided farm policies.
Farm Aid '99 is scheduled for September 12 at the Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, VA, just outside Washington, DC. Tickets for the event go on sale Saturday, July 17 at 10 a.m. EDT. The show will spotlight some of the country's top music artists including Farm Aid founders Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp, as well as Dave Matthews Band, Trisha Yearwood, The Mavericks, Sawyer Brown, Steve Earle and Susan Tedeschi.
"I'm inviting everyone to join us at Farm Aid '99 to share the music and our fight for family farmers. We're bringing this lineup of committed musicians to Washington to entertain folks, but also to remind them that right now our family farmers are gripped in a struggle to survive," said Nelson.
Tickets for Farm Aid '99 will go on sale at 10 a.m. EDT Saturday, July 17. Ticket buyers may call about a limited number of premium "Corn Belt" seats available for $65. Tickets in the pavilion are priced at $42.50, and lawn tickets are $27.50. Parking and applicable service fees will be added to the ticket price. Tickets are available at the Nissan Pavilion Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets may be purchased by phone at 703-573-SEAT, 202-432-SEAT, 410-481-SEAT or 800-551-SEAT.
