Latest I've head from the London-based booking agent at ITB is that they are waiting for Neil to confirm Glasgow, but they are still hopeful. He said it won't be at the SECC if it does go ahead. That's good by me! I hate the black aerodrome.

Topic: Spain not in the cards?

Here's an article from a Spanish news website, translated with help from Babelfish, regarding the possibility of a show in Spain:

Neil Young will initiate an acoustic tour

Neil Young will shortly initiate a tour of Europe without accompanying musicians, accompanied only by his guitar. He will be playing acoustic, intimate shows in medium size venues.

The tour will begin the 22nd of April in Stockholm and will complete in Paris the 24th of May. When he concludes his European tour, Young will return to the United States to continue his acoustic tour.

The sad news for all Spanish fans of the mythical musician is that at the moment Spain does not appear in its plans of tour.

Topic: Bonnaroo wisdom

I went to Bonnaroo last year and had a blast. However many pitfalls await those who will be spending some time in Manchester, TN this year.

Some may be planning to attend JUST Neil's show. Let me state emphatically that this is a highly risky plan. There is only one road in and out of Bonnaroo (REALLY!). As you can imagine, that road, and the roads leading to it, get quite congested. We arrived at 6:30 AM on the morning of the first day of the festival and were in line ALL DAY.

Then, once you get into the festival grounds, it is very difficult to navigate the sea of humanity and vehicles to get to an exit. Even if you get to an exit, the one road is often blocked from leaving for one reason or another. My suggestion, is to plan an extra DAY before the festival (to sit in line) to get in, and to give yourself plenty of time to get home. Camping near an exit is a REALLY good idea if you don't want to spend 10+ hours trying to get out after the last band.

If you plan on arriving a couple hours before Neil goes on, you will definately miss him. Even after getting into the grounds, you will also have an extremely difficult time parking.

More tips:

Well, you get the drift... It's a really BIG festival...

I'll take a pass this year (even with Neil), but would recommend everyone check this out once. GOOD LUCK!!

Topic: More on Glasgow, Sheffield

There has been a problem with venue involved in the proposed Glasgow date, which as far as I am aware hasn't yet been resolved (although I don't know what the problem is or where the venue is). It's fingers crossed that they get it resolved and the gig goes ahead. The word is that Neil remains very keen to play there.

As far as I know there is NO Sheffield gig in the schedule. That said, there remains a tempting gap for more UK shows between the last Dublin show and the first night at Hammersmith. Can't believe he's going to have 4 nights off in a row.... Talk about sleeping on the job.....

With a bit luck Glasgow will turn out to be Friday 16th or Saturday 17th. Saturday night in Glasgow with Neil solo acoustic would be ultra cool...

Topic: Dublin sell-out speed record

Regarding the three Neil shows in Dublin, Hotpress.com says:

Neil Young's three landmark shows in
Vicar St sell out in fifteen minutes

Neil Young has broken the Vicar St. house record by selling-out not one, not two, but three shows in 15 minutes.

The first of these shows, for which the ticket price was set at EUR105, sold out an amazing five minutes after going on sale this morning at 9am. When tickets for two previously unannounced additional dates were immediately made available due to the phenomenal demand, they too were near-instantaneously snapped up in a further ten minutes.

That means 3,000 people will get to see the Canadian legend when he sets up shop in the Liberties from May 11 to 13.

"I hear {Neil} is touring in March for the new album. Ralph on drums, Billy on bass, Ben Keith on steel, and that's all I've heard. Watch out for shows in late Feb. at the Fox in Redwood City, CA."
BTW, remember that marketing poll on NY last year from the bay area? Some of my ideas were that Neil should tour Dylan style, playing smaller cities and towns. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway. I think it's so cool to watch a show in out of the way places rather than the large metropolises. And with the ticket price similar to Bob's shows as well...
