Subject: HORDE confirmed for Camden NJ

Folks,

Okay, I've called the Sony E-Centre and Electric Factory separately today and was told the HORDE will be in Camden on Sunday, Aug.17. Tickets will be $33.00 + charges, so let's estimate $40.00. They go on sale on Monday, June 30. As far as I know, there will be no limit on numbers of tix per person.

When I called Ticketmaster, they had no info on Camden yet, but are selling tix at $32.50 a piece plus charges, for the HORDE at Montage Mountain (near Scranton, PA) on Wednesday August 20.

Subject: News from the Swiss organizers

Hiya

Just got the e-news of the Swiss organizers ... They have received a medical certificate stating that Neil definitely cut his finger May 21st and that the wound needs at least 2 or 3 weeks for healing.

May 21st???? Wasn't the canceled Catalyst show supposed to be on May 20th? Did they mix up the date when the certificate was written with the date of the accident? It does say the ham accident happened May 21st.

Some voices from sources out of the organizing committee I know say that Neils' concert was never really definitely confirmed ....

Also I have heard that a Swiss newspapers journalist called several other festivals about any talk of a "financial upgrade". They all knew nothing about it ...

Rumours, rumours .... but no Neil definitely ... at least I got YOTH last Saturday. This will be my last posting about the Swiss organizers. This chapter is closed for me ...

Tonight (Tuesday) a Charlotte FM station is announcing that the Charlotte, NC, Blockbuster Pavilion, Aug. 15, HORDE tickets go on-sale this Friday at 10.a.m. (courtesy demons Ticketmaster...). Funnily enough, the blurb I heard went, "special guests, Neil Young." Plural, ah-- Neil and finger... Neil and persona... ok.

Subject: HORDE Great Woods Aug 9?

Hi all:

I was listening to WZLX (Boston) on Friday morning and heard The Big Mattress show and he played Sedan Delivery from YOTH.

The other thing he said was that one of his announcers on his show had tickets to the HORDE show on August 9th, not August 8th. They were wondering if in fact there is a show on the 9th and Great Woods hasn't officially announced it yet, or if the guy got snookered. As far as I know August 9th is still a rumor, right?

Subject: Neil Young to tour Australia?

A local newspaper, the Herald Sun, reported on Thursday that NY is going to tour Australia in February next year. An official announcement won't be due until later in the year.

All I can say is "About time Neil". This will be the third time he will be in Oz.

Sheila, could you ask Lookout if there is any substance at all to the rumors. Thanks!

From sources that I consider pretty reliable, it looks like this is the story of what happened (no smileys or anything, this isn't a spoof):

Now I cannot swear this story is true, but my sources claim that it is. And it doesn't seem too contrived. Especially since both the hang-nail and the cut finger reports came out a fair while before the Euro-tour cancellation.

To me, it makes more sense than the various conspiracy theories. "Occam's razor", and all that...

The venue in Scranton would most likely be Montage Mountain Ski Resort. Actually up in the Poconos. They have concerts there in summer. My son Dave, the Phishead, has been to a couple. He says its a nice open air venue. Local Philly radio station WMMR sponsers a lot of gatherings there.

Just called Montage, the girl that answered said HORDE people were there yesterday to look at the place, but she didn't have an answer or info, yet.

Hey ho Rustafarians...
There's an article of fancy in the gutter press of UK music publications -- the NME (dated June 7 1997). We all know the story about the sandwich, but look further down within the article....

There it is... Firm evidence that the archives are being released. Well, no, the NME always ends small articles on Young by adding that line about the archives. But what is all the stuff about a bondage club and a techno club? Neil must be having a great time at these venues...

This just in from the Provinssirock organizers (Neil was scheduled to play there June 15th):

"The Sunday tickets will be refunded in full. You can still use the original Sunday ticket for the festival, and you will then be refunded 40 FIM."
And they continue with the following post scriptum:
"A Swiss reporter called yesterday morning. He is investigating whether there are financial reasons to account for the cancellations... The representatives at St Gallen in Switzerland reportedly lean strongly in that direction. An official notification of cancellation has not reached anyone yet."
It was reported earlier that the headliner for Sunday will be a Finnish band, Kolmas Nainen (Third Woman) who will reunite for this one gig since their breakup 3 years ago.

From the June 5 Austin-American Statesman:

"The H.O.R.D.E. tour will also likely be bypassing Austin. A spokesperson for Houston concert promoter Pace, which books Southpark Meadows, said the company won't be bringing the annual summer bash to town, but it still may bring it to Houston or Dallas around Aug. 23. This installment of the tour will be headlined by Neil Young, assuming he recovers from his recent finger-slicing accident."

Subject: New Europe dates?

Hi there !!
Talked to the local promoter for Wiesen (Austria) today. He told me that they are in contact with Lookout every day and that there could be a "possibility" that Neil will play the Europe dates right after the HORDE tour. This would mean September, and "Open-Air" shows -- because a lot of the European promoters don't have the possibility to arrange indoor shows.

But remember, this is only what the guy from Wiesen told me, so maybe this is only an agreement between Wiesen and Lookout. Nothing is confirmed, so let's hope and pray.

Subject: Europe in the autumn?

Just got a phone call from my acquaintance at the Norwegian Wood Festival.

European folks -- this is PERHAPS good news -- but it is really way too early yet to rely on:

Very tentively now, the Euro-promoters & mgt folks are now in the process of trying to set up a new round of tour gigs here in Europe. It seems they're now talking about October/November. It won't necessarily be the same arranger-folks, cuz late autumn in Europe will of course mean indoor concerts.

It's way too early to say anything definite about which countries/towns may be on any final tour list.........(if these new tour plans should at all become a reality in themselves).

And at this point I merely say, I'll believe it only when I see it (an Oslo NY concert that is!). But, by golly ... I have never been to a NY indoor concert ... so I just hope this really can come true-!!!

take care,
