Hey everyone! Only a few months left until *the* event of the summer... The RockHall Fest!! Don't miss your chance to see what is possibly the greatest city turn-around ever...Cleveland! Lots to do, lots to see...take it from me; I live about 45 minutes away from Cleveland, and it is turning into a great city. The RHF is June 26-28, and it's coming fast! We still need lots more rusted-out musicians to come lend us a hand. We are going to have a great acoustic jam at the hotel Friday night to kick off the weekend, and possibly an even bigger electric jam on Saturday. We are currently planning the electric jam, and we got a few possible surprises up our sleeves. Not to mention, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame itself! It's gonna be a 'Big Time' so come on 'Out On the Weekend' of June 26-28 and have a ball!! Give Bikeralane or Hippy Girl a holler for more info... Hope to see ya there! MartinD45 Horsepie@aol.com
On the bright side of the "Neil's not touring" news, at least that's one less reason to delay plans for attending the RHF! :-) RE*AC*TOR PS: Airfares seem real low right now -- and since a lot of folks will be planning "after school's out trips" soon, it's not a bad idea to find the ideal flights (price and schedule) pretty soon! I was able to book a decent round-trip non-stop flight at the times I wanted recently. Those flights (being the only early-in-the-day non-stops on the route I'm taking) will be the first to fill up as the dates get closer. And we even already reserved seats with a non-wing-obstructed view....
Sitting here in this godawful bitter cold wintery day in Central NY State makes me think ahead. Makes all of us "winter" belt folks think ahead to the good times awaiting when it gets warmer. What good times do we have to look forward to???? In case you may have missed it----listen up!!!!!! We are talking RustFest here. If you don't know about it, here is the info again. If you already know and have registered, see you there. The RockHall Fest is planned for the weekend of 26-27-28 June 1998 in Cleveland. A tour of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will highlight the fest. There will also be a jam or maybe two. Don't miss it.......... register now with Bikeralane@juno.com. Get your advance *group* rate tix through me. Do you play an instrument??? Contact Horsepie@aol.com. All are welcome to participate. Ya can't miss it......take a bus, take a train, fly, but don't thumb it. Undecided?? Whenever you get a bunch of Rusties/ Zumans in one spot, it is a good time. Preparations are in the works to make this a blast for everyone. Get that ticket to ride. Get that room in the bag too while you are at it. More news as it comes in... G'day Kathy Popple Hippy girl's Smile :-)))))
The Nuclear RE*AC*TOR Family Northeastern Tour plans are falling into place. We are BOOKED for the round trip air travel and plan to "arrive early, stay late." We'll be rolling into Albany for a stop in *OLD KING* territory the weekend before (arriving there Sat afternoon). Any CDOP who aren't too wrapped up in getting ready for the trip to Cleveland, let's hang! We plan to roll into the T-O area on Monday afternoon, and stay for a few days. NO plans have been made, so all Rustie suggestions are welcome... RHF Friday/Sat/Sun. Naturally!!! Mid-second week will be Hippy Girl's Smile days as we head back east. Before getting there we'll probably spend at least one night in a B&B around the Finger Lakes. Any suggestions? After rolling on east from HGS's, we'll be spending the Fourth of July weekend in the vacinity of Boston, and the Biker clan. Hope to get together with other Rusties not burned out from the RHF. Any other RHF long-distance travellers going to be running around up that way? Let's talk! RE*AC*TOR
This is a 2nd notice to all you guys attending this summer's Cleveland RustFest at the Hall of Fame. Either you all are on very stringent diets or you forgot to get your menu planning forms in. If the latter is the case, please see below. If you've already sent in your form no need to do so again - I've got it down already. Dinner time is fast approaching! ***it's all illusion anyway*** Sheila {Lookout Mama}
Hey all, If you were one of the gracious Rusties who signed up to bring a PA system to the RHF in June, please get in touch with me. I have to get a few things straightened out. Thanks Luke aka MartinD45
There's a large but pretty washed-out picture of the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame, and Lake Erie, at http://little.nhlink.net/~rta/cover.htm It updates itself every few minutes. If you're curious about the weather, or how heavy the traffic is at certain times of the day, take a peek. If you lose the link and want it in the future, just check the RockHall Fest pages, in the "other links" section. RE*AC*TOR
Here are details about our tour of the RockHall, and other info about visiting there.
This was passed on to me by a Cleveland Rusty, and may be of interest to some... {{Just thought maybe you might want to let people know that once again the Indians sold out the season in December, so probably the only way anyone will get to see a game during the RustFest is through the newspaper classifieds or scalpers (which are often the same), unless they have connections of some sort. Buying from scalpers in the vicinity of Jacobs Field is not a great idea since scalping is illegal in the city of Cleveland, and the tickets and money are liable to be confiscated. It is, however, legal in many surrounding suburbs, which is how all those ticket broker agencies get away with it.}} Note that there's also the auxillary bleacher seating, and the SRO tickets. People need to call each Thursday to check on availability. The number is (216)420-4200. The way to go appears to be the newspaper ads.
Noticed several folk wondering if the Tribe will be in town during the RHF weekend. Cleveland is at home vs. St. Louis on June 24 & 25, and playing Houston on the 26, 27, and 28th. Game scheduled to start at 7:05 on the 26th, and at 1:05 on the 27th & 28th. Ticket information (unless the number's been changed from last season) can be obtained by calling (216) 420-4240. I'm sure for those fortunate enough to go, a RustRow at the game will be in order ! Popcorn...peanuts...cold beer....blank tapes.... Up for air after keeping a lower than usual profile, Slowpoke ....when I was faster I was always behind....ny
It seems that I forgot something very important in my last post on this subject. The RockHall!! It is in the plans to make a pilgrimage to the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame on the morning of Sat June 27. Cost: $13.50 (approx) per adult, seniors and children $10.50. How do I get my tickets? Calculate how much your family is going to cost and send the equivalent to: Kathy Popple 13 Gardner St Whitesboro, NY 13492 Check or money order please. Diana Winking Waitress
I know that it was posted that I would do the FAQ for the fest but frankly I do not have answers to many questions yet. Here is what I do have and if you have any additional questions please send them to me and I will try to find the answer. Here's what we have so far. Diana Winking Waitress
Hey all! Only 4 months left until the RHF...and we need a band!! At the moment, we have about 6 acoustic players signed up, and Bikeralane on the bongos. In other words...we need more, more!! Come on Rusties!! Get in on the fun. There will be a BIG acoustic jam, and we need more musicians. We will be taping this show direct from the soundboard, as well as videotaping the entire performance! For those of you who missed Neil's solo acoustic sets at last years HORDE festivals, this is your chance to see a small sampling of what it was like, or even play! Don't be bashful, just be there! We need drummers and bass players too. It's gonna be a blast! See ya in June, MartinD45
Hello Rusty Town! There are some Rusties that will be bringing along the kiddies to the RockHall Fest. I have had some people ask about child care. Hippy is going to ask our kind motel manager for some local recommendations, but I thought I would try to hook some of you Rusties up with each other. If there are any Rusty Town Teens that will be attending the RockHall Fest and would be interested in babysitting duty, could you please contact me? I thought I would compile a list of names of willing Rusty Teens that would like to earn some bucks while their parents get down at the Fest. If there are any of you who have have teens who are willing to earn some Rusty bucks or if you are interested in hiring someone to babysit your kids, I will try to hook you up to each other, and then you can make your own arrangements. Please write to me off the list and I will gather a list of names. Send to: bikeralane@juno.com Please title your mail "RockHall Fest / Child Care". Please list wether you are looking for child-care or willing to be a babysitter. Hopefully something can work out for you! Thanks for your efforts! Robin ~Live To Ride~
Just to let everyone know that Hippy has done a good job setting us up with the Days Inn in Lakewood. Call today and make your reservations. A credit card will hold your room, if you don't have one, you can make arrangements and send a check. Make sure you mention HyperRust, as they have us in their system. They have blocked rooms for us. If we fill this place up their sister motel is 1 block away with an additional 42 rooms, if we need them. Days Inn 12019 Lake Ave Lakewood, OH 44107 Phone 216 - 226-4800 Fax 216 - 226-5359 If this place is booked they will refer you to; Edgewater Inn 11837 Edgewater Lakewood, OH 44107 216 - 221-9000 Hippy was quoted a group rate of $55 + tax/per room. Make sure you mention HyperRust! And tell em' Hippy and Biker sent ya! (that won't necessarily get you a discount or a get out of jail free card!) ~Live To Ride~ I was a free man in Paris http://members.aol.com/Bikeralane/RAD.html
Hey all you R&R HoF festers! Eventually you are all gonna have to come up for air and get a little sustenance to help fuel those fires so that you can all sing and play passionately at any jams that might break out at the fest that weekend. So with that in mind, the Official Fest Roach Coach (aka the Everybody Knows This Is Turkey Mobile) is now accepting your input on what you would like to see as a Friday nite dinner. Below are your choices. Please, if you're planning on attending and bringing your stomach indicate your top 3 preferences (in ORDER) on the form below and return it to me. I'll compile the results, a winning entree(s?) will be picked and that info passed on to our lady of the pantry (Ms. Hippie herself) and a delicious repast will be prepared. Be aware also that depending on needs and costs a "per Rustie" fee will be charged. But hey, it's gonna be cheaper than dinner out and will be twice as good so what the heck! ***it's all illusion anyway*** Sheila (LkoutMama@aol.com) {Lookout Mama} ------------------------------------------------------------------- OFFICIAL FORM ** OFFICIAL FORM ** OFFICIAL FORM ** OFFICIAL FORM ** Wow! Dinner with Rusties! Can't wait! How can we get so lucky!!!!! Here's the amount of folks that will be eating on Friday night ____________ (we don't care if you'll be eating on Saturday - we're closed!) Yeah, it ain't chateaubriand or Boca Burgers but at least you won't have any annoying little dogs trying to wheedle your food away from you in Spanish. My 3 preferences from the choices below are: _____ Pizza _____ Pasta _____ Chicken Breast _____ Meatballs _____ Hot Sausage _____ Subs (bandages for fingers are optional at an additional cost) _____ _______________________________________ -------------------------------------------------------------------
After many requests for this info, and many folks having to plan flights, this is the name of the hotel/motel we are using. Everything else is way over $120./ nite. This is *with* group rate. Days Inn is located in Lakewood , suburb of Cleveland, 6 miles West of the Rockhall. The owner was there when I checked in last week and made an offer too good to refuse. The deal is this. The rooms are $55.plus taxes per nite. He is also allowing us to use both his small (~15 ppl) and large (~60-65 ppl) meeting rooms for absolutely O $$$$$. Pretty good considering other hotels wanted $200. or more for 3 hrs of usage. He has given permission for an acoustic jam downstairs in the bigger room with the curfew being 10:30 PM. Electric Jam???? Don't know as of yet but it's early. Horsepie is getting fired up for this one!!!!!!!!!!! The address and phone number of the hotel is: Site # 7873 2 Cleveland Days Inn 12019 Lake Ave Lakewood, OH 44107 Phone 216.226.4800 Fax 216.226.5359 If you know that you want to reserve a room, send a one night's deposit to the hotel. Mention that you are part of the HyperRust group. This hotel is also 6 miles from the airport. I do have the directions to the hotel from there as well as for those who "road trip" it in. I will post directions a little later. Camping???? It doesn't look good at this point. All of the campgounds are way out there. A guesstimate would be 60-70 miles away from the action headed South and more than that going East. If 2-3 ppl split the cost of a room (y'all may want to huddle on this) the economics will prevail. Please watch for a FAQ to appear shortly. Also tickets for the RockHall admission are roughly $ 13.50./ adult( ages 12--54) and $10.50 per child (ages 4--11) @ group rates. Group tickets need to be paid for in advance. If you know that you will be coming please figure out how many tix you will need. The tour is scheduled for 27 June 98 at 10 AM. Send your check or money order, made out to me , to the following address: Kathy Popple 13 Gardner St Whitesboro, NY 13492 It would be nice to wrap up the ticket business by mid-May. Although no ticket request will be refused!!!!! It just allows time to sew up other fest details. Haven't yet decided ???? Well, just do it!!!!! Come to Cleveland 26-28 June 98. You won't be sorry....... Later folks Hippy Girl's Smile Rusty and still rockin' my world
Hi all Bikeralane, pen in hand, is ready to take your registration for the fest. Her e-mail address is Bikeralane@juno.com Be sure to include the following: Name and handle e-mail address Your snail address Phone # (your choice but could be helpful) How many of you in your party? Are you camping or are you Hotel/motel--ing it ? Do you plan to arrive on 25, 26, or 27 June? By which mode of transportation are you arriving ? Will you need a ride from the airport? What time will you be there? Approx for now Any suggestions/comments are welcome. Diana"Winking Waitress" Vance is going to be putting together a FAQ for all festers to see. Any questions? Feel free to ask me. I expect to get more details within the next few weeks. There are some things that are a given. For example, dicounted admission to the hall of fame, a tour with Q&A about the place, and a good time. So whether you are sitting in the freezing cold or basking in the sun, get to your computer and make those reservations. Ask those questions. Also I need more folks to volunteer for various duties that need doing. Join our team!!! Sitting in Freezing NY State Hippy Girl's Smile :-)
Let me assure all of you , who seem baffled for now, there is a website being made which will contain vital information. Until that is done, here is a list of the Planning Team. Please make note . PRINT IT OUT. Then you will know who to contact for what. Kathy "Hippy Girl's Smile" Popple (HipyGrlSml@aol.com) Please send me any of your questions regarding the event. I will be doing the Rockhall end of it all but all questions are welcome. Robin "Live to Ride" Delnero (Bikeralane@juno.com) is doing the registration for the RHF. She has her trusty little pen waiting for those who wish to register. She will refer you to me for any questions. Diana "Winking Waitress" Vance (DVance4@juno.com) will be writing up a basic FAQ to post to the list for now. Like I said there will be more info as time goes on. David "RE*AC*TOR" Lybrand (reactor@HyperRust.org) has very generously offered to do a page off HyperRust, to keep everyone updated as things develop. Sheila "LookoutMama" Lipschitz (LkoutMama@aol.com) needs to be contacted if you are flying in but have no transpo from the airport. Are there any Rusties coming in by car who would like to volunteer for an airport run?? Put me down for a run or two, Sheila Craig "VonZipp" Zitkiewicz (VonZipp@aol.com) will be scoping out the campgrounds in the Cleveland area. He is going to inquire about facilities to do a jam while he is searching. Luke "MartinD45" Shelton (Horsepie@aol.com) is handling the musical end of the jam. If you play any type of instrument whatsoever, contact Luke. Anyone play drums out there? He could use a few. Also let him know *which* songs of Neil's that you play. It will be helpful. Lisa "ByThe Fire" Barrett (barrett@knownet.com) has offered to look for other points of interest in the Cleveland area. Other Rusties have contacted me with offers to help. We will need help as we go along so don't think you are getting blown off. One thing that we need is a person to video tape the jam as well as a person to tape it. Thanks and go register!!!!!!! Hippy Girl's Smile Smilin' because June is warm
Hi all. Just received a reply from the *music* man for the jam. If you want to bring your instruments and jam {remembering the IRF jam here} please contact Horspie@aol.com. Be sure to include the following information. Thanks all HGS :-)))) 1) What you play 2) What equipment you can bring 3) If you plan on playing with the electric band, a small list of tunes you would like to play. This will give us an idea of what to work on, and what everyone will feel comfortable with. 4) If anyone has access to a PA system of any kind
Here is an update for the RustFest to be held in and around the RRHoF+ Museum located in Cleveland, OH. There are details in the works. I assure you that I am working with the rockhall folks to make this a *blast*. Ball games at Jacob's Field are being checked out for all of you Indian fans. Campgrounds will be looked into as well. For all of you *indoor* campers, there are plans on a block of rooms at a hotel/motel which has a conference room at our disposal for the wkend (this includes the outdoor campers as well). Within the next couple of weeks I am having someone on the Fest team start taking your reservations. I know that some of you had contacted me to give me a rough idea of how many Rusty/Zumans were going to attend. Also there were some Cleveland Rusties who had contacted me regarding willingness to help. Unfortunately all of it got *dumped* when one of my animals decided to crawl under my computer desk( it's that cave instinct). The computer got Unplugged =|8-O I know of 1 person that I can remember but would you others please contact me again? Thank you. Please watch the list for details as they are sewn up. Take a train, take a plane, take a bus, or *thumb* your way but don't miss it!!!!! We are going to ROCK THE ROCKHALL for 98 Hippy Girl's Smile---------- Whhhooooohhoh " Prisoner of rock and roll " -- ny
