Summer Festival
Lucca, Italy, July 21, 2001

early report by Michele Lazzerini

The first songs were powerful. Neil & Crazy Horse was like a wild beast, and their instruments were clutched for scratching!

During the acoustic set, Neil got confused. He changed the guitar (the 12-strings he uses for Pocahontas) and played the pump organ for Long May You Run. But he played Pocahontas afterward.

After Pocahontas the people screamed out requests -- one guy screamed "Sing what you want!!!" and Neil replied "That's good idea.". Crazy Horse returned and they played Only Love Can Break Your Heart.

During Like A Hurricane, Neil broke the strings of his Gibson, and it looked like Billy Talbot did, too, on his bass. Continuing the song, on the stage the atmosphere was incredible -- Neil went to the piano with his broken guitar and played something, Billy stomped on his bass, while the music was very powerful! Amazing, incredible !!!

After Roll Another Number (the first song of the second encore) Billy and Poncho were going to leave, but Neil called them back. They played Going Home to end the amazing show.

The concert started at 21.30 and finish at 0.15 -- the show was 2:45 long!!!!! A great experience...!

Michele.
