Star Lake (Pittsburg), Sept 3, 1996

mini-review by Linda Sleeps With Angels Scott

I went to the Pittsburgh show last night, and it was a winner! Neil had the audience up and rocking right away with Hey, Hey, My, My. Then Pocahontas, Big Time and Slip Away were on. Neil put Old Black down for a short rest and used an acoustic for Needle and the Damage Done. Every note he played and sang hit the mark! He also soloed on Sugar Mountain and Heart of Gold. Of course, Crazy Horse came back! They did Cortez the Killer, Like a Hurricane (my personal favorite) and Cinnamon Girl. I don't have the complete set list but I'm sure it will be posted. Those were just personal favorites.

Since it was my first Neil concert, I was somehow expecting him to be this thin, wispy guy when he is actually very sturdy looking. He must lose 10 pounds a night, though!

Thanks to everyone who made the RustRow possible. Our seats were very good. It was great to meet everyone, and we have to do this again next tour.

Neil On His Knees

comment by Cheryl Cherry Garcia Bedard

Just saw the time so I must cut this short. One thing about the Star Lake show. During the opening riffs to Cortez, Neil sank to his knees for a moment in front of Ralph. It was just for a moment, but it was very fluid...down on knees and back up, still playing. Pretty smooth move for a fifty-year old dude!

More later...
